El Sali Logistics Ltd runs Luton vans out of Grays in Essex. The work splits three ways: household moves and deliveries, contract and subcontract work for businesses and carriers, and hiring vans to self-employed drivers.

The company grew out of running parcel network rounds, which is why the operational habits here are network habits. Scan discipline, delivery windows, failed-delivery procedure and early starts are normal, not something we would have to be trained into.

How we price

Fixed price, agreed in writing before the van moves, worked out on the inventory, the access at both ends and the distance. Congestion Charge, ULEZ and crossing charges go in the quote where the route crosses them. We would rather lose a job on an honest number than win it on a low one and argue at the door.

• No waste carried. Clearance work needs an Environment Agency licence and we do not hold one
